Raphaël Glucksmann wins social-democratic primary

Raphaël Glucksmann of Place publique has won the social-democratic primary for the 2027 French presidential election, securing 66.17% of the vote. He significantly outperformed his closest competitor, Olivier Faure of the Socialist Party (PS), who received 14.47%. Other candidates included Ségolène Royal with 7.62%, Emmanuel Maurel of the GRS with 5.92%, and Jérôme Guedj with 5.83%.

The victory is seen by supporters as the emergence of a clear alternative for voters who do not identify with Jean-Luc Mélenchon or La France Insoumise. Supporters indicated that the win strengthens the left's credibility in opposing the far right. However, the victory also marks the beginning of a difficult campaign period, as Glucksmann must now navigate internal tensions within the left-wing coalition and consolidate support among various factions.
