Rapid defeats Dinamo Kiev 3-1 in Austrian friendly, coach Pancu comments

Rapid Bucharest won 3-1 against Dinamo Kiev in a pre‑season friendly staged in Austria. Omar El‑Sawy opened the scoring in the 53rd minute, Dinamo equalised three minutes later through a penalty by Vitali Buyalsky, but Rapid reclaimed the lead with a Borisav Burmaz penalty in the 76th minute and sealed the match when Mohammed Kamara struck in the 89th minute.

Coach Daniel Pancu praised the victory but highlighted the need to improve the squad’s mentality. He said, “Sunt multe lucruri de rezolvat ca mentalitate,” and noted the experimentation with players such as Rareș Pop at left‑back. Pancu also mentioned the club’s ongoing transfer plans for an attacker, a centre‑back and a midfielder.

In a separate interview, Pancu expressed sympathy for Dinamo’s Romanian youngster Vladislav Blănută, whose move to Ukraine stalled because FIFA rules prevent him from playing for more than two clubs in a season. Pancu remarked, “Săracul, prin ce trece… I‑am spus să iasă puternic din toată situația asta.”
