Rapid București pre‑season: striker Borisav Burmaz re‑signs as Daniel Pancu assumes coaching duties

Romanian club Rapid București announced that Serbian forward Borisav Burmaz has signed a one‑year contract extension with an option for further renewal. The 27‑year‑old returns after a nine‑month injury lay‑off, having featured in 59 matches for the team and scored 11 goals with two assists. He will enter his fourth season in the club’s red‑blue shirts.

Former Rapid coach Daniel Pancu, now appointed head coach, will oversee the squad’s first training session on 15 June. The team will then travel to a summer camp in Bad Leonfelden, Austria, from 29 June to 10 July, playing friendly matches against Rapid Vienna, FC Kosice and Slovan Liberec.

Separately, veteran Romanian manager Mircea Rednic disclosed his decision to step away from his recent Superliga role at UTA Arad, stating he would be “much more careful” about any future return to Romanian football. Rednic, who previously won league titles with Rapid and Dinamo, reflected on his past stints with lower‑ranked clubs and the high expectations of fans, confirming his departure from Arad amid those pressures.
