Rapid KL extends free rides on Shah Alam LRT line until August 14, 2026
Rapid KL announced that the free‑travel period for the Shah Alam LRT (LRT3) has been extended to 14 August 2026. The extension covers train services, feeder buses and Park‑N‑Ride facilities at the line’s stations, allowing commuters to continue using the service at no cost.
The move is intended to give the public more time to become familiar with the new line, which opened on 29 June 2026 and links Petaling Jaya, Shah Alam and Klang. The 37.8 km line cost RM16.63 billion, includes 20 stations and interchanges at Bandar Utama and Glenmarie. It uses a QR‑code ticketing system alongside Touch ‘n Go cards and MyKad. Rapid KL hopes the extension will reduce daily commuting costs and boost confidence in Malaysia’s public‑transport network.
