Rapperiya Baalam alleges unauthorized use of song in Mirzapur: The Movie
Rajasthani musician Rapperiya Baalam has alleged that his song ‘Shoorveer’ was used in the film ‘Mirzapur: The Movie’ without his permission or credit. The artist expressed his disappointment via Instagram, stating that the lack of communication and authorization was deeply hurtful.
Beyond the copyright concerns, Baalam raised objections regarding the context of the song's use. He noted that ‘Shoorveer’ was originally created as a tribute to Maharana Pratap and questioned the appropriateness of using the track in a sequence that appears to glorify fictional gangsters. The musician described the usage as disrespectful to Rajasthan and the legacy of Maharana Pratap.
While Baalam has questioned the legality of the licensing, the exact status of the master or publishing rights remains unclear, as it is unknown from whom the film production team may have acquired them.
