Raquel Lyra seeks legal clarification over João Campos’s ‘digital militia’ claims
Pernambuco Governor Raquel Lyra has filed a criminal judicial interpellation to compel candidate João Campos to clarify his recent allegations regarding a supposed ‘digital militia’ and ‘hate cabinet’ operating from the state government palace.
The legal action, based on Article 144 of the Brazilian Penal Code, is not a formal criminal complaint or a request for conviction. Instead, it seeks to force Campos to identify the specific individuals or entities he was referring to and the facts that support his claims. Lyra’s defense argues that Campos’s statements went beyond political criticism by attributing the leadership of a clandestine criminal organization to the state administration.
Campos had previously released a video on social media claiming to have denounced a structure responsible for attacks against him, his allies, and his family for over a year. The dispute follows reports regarding a potential network of social media profiles allegedly used to target political opponents.
