Raquel Lyra's media access hinges on Pernambuco coalition negotiations

Secretary of Agriculture Edgar Mafra clarified that the Expogana animal exhibition was not cancelled by the Santa Cruz do Capibaribe municipality; the event was delayed due to a backlog of demands and will be held in early September.

State politics intensified as Governor Raquel Lyra (PSD) arranged a meeting with Eduardo da Fonte, leader of the Federação União Progressista, to secure the federation's support before the party conventions. The talks will determine whether the governor retains a coalition that provides 196 federal deputies and about 30% of free radio‑TV time, or falls to 90 deputies and a sharply reduced media share, while rival João Campos could capture roughly 60% of that airtime.

The negotiations also involve the recently defunct PRD/Solidariedade, which shifted its allegiance to João Campos, adding urgency to the coalition talks ahead of upcoming state elections.
