Rashad al-Alimi warns Houthi escalations test international peace efforts

Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council President Rashad al-Alimi has warned that recent Houthi militia escalations serve as a test of the international community's commitment to protecting peace opportunities. Speaking to ambassadors of countries sponsoring the political process, al-Alimi stated that while the Yemeni government has prioritized peace and exercised restraint, it will not allow its commitment to peace to be used as an opening for militia attacks.

Al-Alimi highlighted a recent attack on the Mocha port involving ballistic missiles and drones, which targeted civilian infrastructure including a hospital, water projects, and immigration facilities. The attack resulted in civilian casualties, including women and children. Reports indicate the strike caused significant damage to maritime docks and food cargo handling equipment.

In a separate meeting, al-Alimi emphasized the necessity of a strong national media presence to combat Houthi-led misinformation and protect the state's narrative. He called for increased coordination within the republican camp and strategic media partnerships to ensure accurate information reaches the public.
