Raspberry Pi expands display options with Steam Deck LCD support and new Touch Display 2 series

New developments in display options for Raspberry Pi users have emerged, including a method to utilize the Steam Deck LCD and the release of the Raspberry Pi Touch Display 2 series.

Developers at Scandent have created a Linux kernel driver and an open-source Pi HAT design that allows the BOE TV070WXM-TV0 LCD—originally used in the Steam Deck—to work with Raspberry Pi 5 or CM4. This provides a high-resolution, 7-inch touchscreen alternative for hobbyists. Scandent released the hardware designs to help standardize the use of this specific mass-market panel.

Additionally, the Raspberry Pi Touch Display 2 lineup has been detailed, featuring new sizes and improved specifications. The series includes 5-inch, 7-inch, and a new 10-inch model. The 10-inch version offers a high resolution of 1200x1920 pixels, an IPS TFT LCD panel, and supports 10-finger multi-touch, distinguishing it from the 5-inch and 7-inch models which support 5-finger touch.
