Ravenna officials and Agriculture Minister meet to address water crisis

Agriculture officials from the Municipality of Ravenna and the Province of Ravenna met with Italian Agriculture Minister Francesco Lollobrigida in Rimini to address a severe water crisis affecting the region.

Barbara Monti, the Ravenna Agriculture Councilor, reported that over one hundred farms in hilly areas are currently without irrigation water. This shortage has led to production decreases of up to 40% and has caused significant shifts in harvest schedules for grapes and grain.

Minister Lollobrigida designated Dr. Ciciliano, head of the Civil Protection Department and national extraordinary commissioner for water scarcity, as the technical lead for resource planning. This appointment aims to facilitate an institutional meeting involving various regional water and reclamation authorities to establish an operational strategy. Local officials emphasized that the water crisis has become a structural condition rather than an episodic emergency, requiring stable, long-term planning.
