Rawalpindi police investigate death of Hina Javed

Police in Rawalpindi are investigating the death of 45-year-old Hina Javed, who was found dead in her apartment in the Lalkurti area. According to the First Information Report (FIR), Javed was discovered in a bathroom with her hands tied behind her back, her mouth covered with cloth, and a wire wrapped around her neck.

Javed’s family alleges she had been subjected to repeated physical and psychological abuse during her marriage, which began nine months ago. Her brother, Fahad Javed Malik, accused her husband, Faisal Asghar Imam, his father, Asghar Ali Fayyaz, and a domestic worker, Zeeshan Arshad, of involvement. While the in-laws initially suggested a robbery had occurred, security guards reported no signs of a break-in.

Authorities have arrested the husband and the domestic worker, while the father-in-law has been named in the case. The incident has drawn significant public attention, with Pakistani actress Mahira Khan and actor Iffat Omar using social media to demand justice and calling on Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to address violence against women. An online campaign, ‘Justice for Hina Javed,’ has also emerged to seek accountability.
