Rawicz announces tender to convert municipal basement into emergency shelter
The municipality of Rawicz has announced a public tender for the renovation and reconstruction of the basement in the municipal office building to create a local emergency shelter.
The project is part of the “Organizing local emergency shelters (MDS)” initiative and is funded by a state budget grant under the Population Protection and Civil Defense Program for 2025–2026. The renovation will involve significant structural changes, including the creation of protective chambers, sanitary facilities, storage areas, a meal preparation room, and technical rooms.
Technical specifications require the installation of artificial lighting, a ventilation system capable of maintaining air quality for at least 48 hours, and a monitoring system. The facility will feature five evacuation exits and one backup exit via a tunnel designed to bypass predicted debris zones. To ensure functionality, the ground level around the basement will be raised by approximately 0.90 meters.
