RayNeo launches camera-free AI smart glasses in Japan

RayNeo, a brand under TCL, has launched the RayNeo iO Smart Glasses in the Japanese market. Unlike many contemporary AI glasses that include cameras, the RayNeo iO is designed without a camera to address privacy concerns regarding unauthorized filming.

The device features a micro-LED display using the proprietary Firefly Optical Engine Nano, which provides a single-color green display with a maximum brightness of 1,200 nits. This allows for clear information visibility even in bright outdoor environments. Key AI-driven functionalities include real-time translation and subtitling for 55 languages, live captioning, voice memos, and a teleprompter feature.

Designed to resemble standard eyewear, the glasses weigh approximately 33g and are constructed from magnesium-aluminum alloy and aerospace-grade titanium. Users can interact with the device via voice commands, a rotary Smart Crown on the right temple, or head gestures. The battery provides up to 48 hours of standard use, and the device is customizable with prescription lenses.
