Rayo Vallecano to reopen Vallecas stadium for Madrid inspection

The regional government of Madrid, represented by Culture, Tourism and Sports Minister Mariano de Paco Serrano, announced that Rayo Vallecano has agreed to open the Estadio de Vallecas on Tuesday so technical staff can inspect safety deficiencies identified in a recent audit. The club, led by president Raúl Martín Presa, will also provide the documentation requested by the administration and maintain "continuous collaboration" throughout the process.

The audit highlighted serious shortcomings in security, hygiene and maintenance, prompting the Community to suspend the stadium’s concession and begin an administrative procedure to extinguish it. After several failed attempts by officials to enter the venue, the authorities filed a police report and scheduled a formal meeting with Presa. The club had previously blocked access, leading to fan protests and calls for Presa’s removal.

While the inspection does not yet trigger renovation works, it is the first step toward determining which deficiencies remain and what interventions are required. Meanwhile, Rayo Vallecano is preparing to play its home matches at El Plantío in Burgos, having explored other regional stadiums without success.
