RBI wins 3.15 billion euro judgment against Rasperia

A default judgment issued by the Vienna Regional Court for Civil Matters has become legally binding, awarding Raiffeisen Bank International (RBI) 3.15 billion euros in damages from Rasperia Trading Limited. Rasperia, a Russian holding company based in Kaliningrad and linked to sanctioned billionaire Oleg Deripaska, failed to respond to the lawsuit or appeal the ruling.

RBI intends to enforce the claim by applying to the Financial Market Authority (FMA) to release frozen assets. This includes 28.5 million Strabag shares that have been frozen due to EU sanctions since 2022, as well as unpaid dividends and funds from a 2024 capital reduction. The FMA expects to reach a decision within a few months, though the statutory administrative period allows for up to six months.
