RCMP arrest multiple suspects in Yukon drug investigations
The RCMP have conducted separate drug-related investigations in Yellowknife and Watson Lake, resulting in multiple arrests and the seizure of narcotics and cash.
In Yellowknife, police executed a search warrant on September 1 following a public tip regarding an apartment. The operation led to the arrest of Natnael Gebrehiwot Afeworki and Skylynn Cook. Authorities seized approximately 53 grams of suspected crack cocaine and over $34,000 in cash. Both individuals face charges including trafficking a controlled substance and possession of property obtained by crime.
In Watson Lake, two distinct investigations led to four arrests. A September 1 search warrant resulted in the arrest of Christopher Munch and Jade Miller, with police seizing 83 grams of suspected cocaine and $13,266 in cash. Additionally, an August 28 investigation into a stolen vehicle from Edmonton led to the arrest of Shannon Kerr and Wesley Grist, during which officers recovered 24 grams of suspected cocaine and a loaded rifle.
