RCMP drug trafficking investigations in Western Canada

Overview

The RCMP has conducted several drug-related investigations across Western Canada, resulting in multiple arrests and the seizure of narcotics, firearms, and cash.

In early September, operations in the Yukon and Northwest Territories led to the arrest of six individuals. In Yellowknife, police seized approximately 53 grams of suspected crack cocaine and over $34,000 in cash. In Watson Lake, separate investigations resulted in the seizure of 107 grams of suspected cocaine, $13,266 in cash, and a loaded rifle.

Following these actions, a month-long investigation into trafficking across rural Alberta and parts of Saskatchewan culminated in searches in Cold Lake and Bonnyville on September 8. This operation led to the seizure of approximately 650 grams of suspected cocaine, 60 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 75 ml of GHB, two loaded handguns, a shotgun, and roughly $39,000 in Canadian currency.
