Natal City Council launches inquiry into Caern service quality

The Natal Municipal Chamber has established a Special Commission of Inquiry (CEI) to investigate the water and sanitation company Caern. The investigation focuses on the quality of services provided and the responsibility of municipal bodies in supervising the maintenance and repair of roads following excavations.

Councilman Matheus Faustino, the rapporteur of the commission, criticized the company for a lack of accountability regarding street damage. The inquiry may involve summoning representatives from Caern and municipal secretariats, including the departments of Environment, Urbanism, and Infrastructure, as well as the municipal sanitation regulatory agency, Arsban.

The commission has an initial period of 120 days to complete its work, which can be extended for an additional 120 days.
