Receita Federal pays R$ 1.26 billion in residual tax refunds

The Receita Federal is releasing a residual batch of Income Tax (IRPF) refunds this Wednesday, September 30. The payment covers approximately 412,186 taxpayers who had previously fallen into the 'malha fina' (tax audit) and subsequently regularized their tax filings, as well as residual refunds from previous years.

In total, R$ 1.26 billion will be distributed. Of this amount, R$ 466.68 million is earmarked for taxpayers with legal priority, including individuals over 80 years old, those aged 60 to 79, people with disabilities or serious illnesses, and teachers whose primary income is from education. Additionally, 281,609 taxpayers who used the pre-filled declaration or opted for Pix payments will receive priority processing, though this is not a legal priority.

Payments will be made via the bank account or Pix key (CPF) provided in the tax declaration. Taxpayers can check their status through the Receita Federal website or mobile application under the 'Meu Imposto de Renda' section. If a refund cannot be deposited due to an inactive account, the funds will remain available for redemption at Banco do Brasil for up to one year.
