Monaco Grand Prix podium dispute triggers FIA appeals from McLaren, Red Bull and Mercedes

The FIA annulled two five‑second pit‑lane speeding penalties for Alpine driver Pierre Gasly after identifying a measurement error in the Monaco pit‑lane timing loop, restoring him to third place in the 2026 Monaco Grand Prix.

McLaren and Red Bull have each lodged formal notices of appeal with the FIA International Court of Appeal, arguing that the reversal creates sporting inequality because other drivers served identical penalties during the race and were disadvantaged by the post‑race change.

Mercedes has also filed a Right‑of‑Review request concerning George Russell’s penalty, citing the same timing‑loop discrepancy as new evidence that could affect his result. The team says Russell’s five‑second penalty, followed by a drive‑through, cost him championship points.
