Red Bull Racing shifts focus to 2027 development
Red Bull Racing has decided to halt major developmental updates for the current RB22 car, shifting its primary focus toward the 2027 car development program. Laurent Mekies confirmed that while the team will continue to push for improvements and data collection in remaining races, there will be no more substantial upgrades to the current chassis.
This strategic shift follows a period of resurgence for the team, including recent successes for Max Verstappen in Malaysia and Singapore. Drivers and analysts noted that the recent upgrades helped make the car more predictable and faster on diverse tracks, including the bumpy streets of Singapore, which had previously been a weakness for the team.
Meanwhile, Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli has worked to adapt to an updated Mercedes package that initially proved difficult to drive during practice and qualifying sessions. Despite early struggles, the team aims to maximize points as the season progresses.
