Red Bull Racing faces performance regression after Dutch GP

Red Bull Racing is facing a period of performance regression following a difficult Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort. Team principal Laurent Mekies described the weekend as a time when there is “nowhere to hide,” noting that the team appears to have taken a step back in pace compared to earlier in the season.

During the race, Max Verstappen crashed on the first lap after losing the rear of his car. Liam Lawson, stepping in for the injured Isack Hadjar, finished seventh. Mekies emphasized the need for the team to regroup over the next two weeks before competing in Monza to determine if the performance drop is due to rival upgrades or internal technical limitations.

Despite the recent struggles, Mekies highlighted the “brutally honest” and direct relationship between the team and Verstappen. The four-time world champion has committed to Red Bull through the end of 2030, driven by a shared desire to return the team to title contention.
