Red Bull and Racing Bulls performance at Dutch Grand Prix

The Dutch Grand Prix was marked by performance struggles and incidents for the Red Bull family of teams. Racing Bulls failed to score points, with Yuki Tsunoda finishing 11th and Arvid Lindblad finishing 10th after a drive-through penalty. Alpine driver Pierre Gasly criticized Racing Bulls for allegedly playing ‘team games’ to favor their championship standings.

Red Bull Racing also reported a disappointing weekend, with leadership noting the team appeared to have taken a ‘step back’ since the summer break. A significant first-lap accident involving Max Verstappen, who crashed after losing the rear of his car, resulted in the main race being cut short, preventing the team from assessing the RB22’s race pace. While Liam Lawson delivered a strong performance, finishing seventh while deputising for the injured Isack Hadjar, the team admitted they had ‘nowhere to hide’ regarding their lacklustre pace compared to previous races.

Team principal Laurent Mekies described the weekend as a period of performance regression and emphasized the need for the team to regroup before competing in Monza. The team aims to determine if the drop in pace is due to internal technical limitations or upgrades from rivals. Despite these struggles, Mekies highlighted the ‘brutally honest’ relationship between the team and Verstappen, who has committed to Red Bull through the end of 2030.
