Red Bull to revert to conventional rear wing for Belgian Grand Prix
Red Bull Racing will abandon its experimental “Macarena” rotating rear wing for the upcoming Belgian Grand Prix at Spa‑Francorchamps. The decision follows two high‑speed incidents involving Max Verstappen – a qualifying crash at the Red Bull Ring in Austria and a spin at Silverstone – which Verstappen described as “super‑dangerous”. Team principal Laurent Mekies confirmed the team will return to the older rear‑wing specification for both Verstappen and teammate Isack Hadjar, with a minor update to the standard wing. The FIA has been consulted about the safety of rotating‑wing concepts, noting that Ferrari's version has not shown similar problems. Red Bull will continue development of the new wing for future use while prioritising driver safety for the Spa race.
