Red Bull wingsuit athletes photographed during solar eclipse

Photographer Noah Wetzel captured images of Red Bull wingsuit athletes flying through the ring of totality during a total solar eclipse in Alarilla, Spain, on August 12, 2026.

Wetzel spent nine months preparing for the shoot, which involved high-speed athletes moving at over 150 mph in near-total darkness. To achieve the shot, Wetzel exited a powered paraglider from 2,000 feet above to drop into position. The technical difficulty included managing extremely low light conditions and a very narrow margin for error, as the photographer could only trigger two photos in burst mode at one-eighth flash power.
