The Red Deer RCMP has arrested two men following a major drug and weapons seizure resulting from a long-term investigation into drug trafficking. The operation, which began in March 2026, involved support from RCMP detachments in Innisfail, Airdrie, and Sundre.
On September 10, police executed search warrants at seven locations across Red Deer, Airdrie, Innisfail, and a rural area north of Sundre. The seizure included more than six kilograms of cocaine, 1.4 kilograms of psilocybin, over 600 grams of methamphetamine, an uzi-style firearm, three handguns, ammunition, and more than $280,000 in cash.
A 37-year-old man from Airdrie faces multiple charges, including possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime, and various firearm-related offenses. A 43-year-old man from Red Deer has been charged with drug trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime. Authorities noted that the seizure represents a significant disruption to organized crime in the area and indicated that more suspects may be identified.
