Red Sea attack on Tihamah cargo ship kills several sailors
The cargo ship Tihamah was hit by a deadly attack off the coast of Yemen, reportedly resulting in the deaths of several sailors. The strike, which occurred near Al-Mokha, has been attributed to Houthi fighters.
Arsenio Dominguez, head of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), condemned the attack, describing it as an indefensible strike on international shipping. He warned that such incidents in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden area escalate tensions and threaten the stability of global supply chains.
The Tihamah, a vessel flying the flag of Tanzania, is approximately 62.8 metres long. This incident follows a pattern of Houthi maritime activity in the region, which has turned vital trade routes into high-risk zones and prompted naval responses from the United States and United Kingdom.
