RedMetro launches free electric transit in San Luis Potosí

The RedMetro public transportation system has successfully launched its new routes in the Zona Media and Huasteca regions of San Luis Potosí. Governor Ricardo Gallardo Cardona reported that the implementation is proceeding according to plan, noting high demand and efficient service frequencies.

In the Zona Media, the frequency of service was reduced from 15 to 10 minutes to meet user needs. During the first five days of operation, 3,131 users were recorded, including 1,332 on the Rioverde-Ciudad Fernández route and 1,799 on the Line 2 Eje Norte-Sur.

The service is entirely free and utilizes modern, 100% electric units charged via solar panels. The vehicles are equipped with Wi-Fi, air conditioning, and specialized accessibility features for the elderly, women, and people with disabilities. In the Huasteca region, the RedMetro Riviera Huasteca route connects Ciudad Valles with Tamazunchale, linking hospitals, schools, and commercial zones.
