Refineries in Ghana and Croatia enhance fuel supply security

In Ghana, the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has expressed confidence in the consistent production capabilities of the Sentuo Oil Refinery through December 2026. The Chamber of Bulk Oil Distributors (CBOD) noted that domestic refining at Sentuo and the Tema Oil Refinery could potentially meet between 25 and 30 per cent of national fuel consumption, providing a buffer against supply insecurity and international market pressures.

In Croatia, INA and the MOL Group have successfully commissioned a new Delayed Coker Unit (DCU) at the Rijeka Refinery. The nearly EUR 700 million project allows the refinery to process heavier crude grades and eliminates the need to import vacuum gas oil (VGO). The new unit is expected to increase diesel yields by up to 30% from the same amount of crude oil, enhancing regional energy security and refining profitability.
