Reform UK pledges to raise personal tax allowance to £15,000

Reform UK has pledged to raise the tax-free personal allowance from £12,570 to £15,000 within the first 100 days of a government. Shadow Chancellor Robert Jenrick announced the proposal at the party's conference in Birmingham, stating the move would benefit approximately 40 million people and provide an average of £500 a year for basic rate taxpayers.

Jenrick committed to resigning if the promise is not met, stating, “If I don’t deliver this exactly when I have said that I will, I will resign.” The party plans to fund these measures through £108 billion in budget cuts, including £50 billion aimed at reducing welfare spending by restricting access for foreign citizens.

The Labour Party criticized the announcement, suggesting it is a tactic to distract from ongoing police investigations into Reform UK regarding potential breaches of political donation rules involving overseas companies.
