Reform UK receives £20m in donations from crypto investors

Reform UK, the political party led by Nigel Farage, has received approximately £20 million in donations from investors linked to the cryptocurrency sector since the recent general election. An analysis of Electoral Commission data indicates that roughly 60 percent of the party's funding since the beginning of 2024 originates from individuals associated with digital currencies.

Among the most significant contributors is crypto billionaire Christopher Harborne, whose donations total £15 million. This includes a £5 million donation to Mr. Farage that is currently the subject of a parliamentary probe; Farage has maintained that this was a personal gift. Other notable donors include Ben Peter Delo, founder of the BitMex trading platform, and Maria Rost.

Reform UK advocates for policies favorable to the crypto industry, including tax reductions and the creation of a strategic Bitcoin reserve. A spokesperson for the party stated that they take pride in their vetting processes and strictly follow Electoral Commission guidelines regarding political donations.
