Reform UK cryptocurrency funding and foreign donation probe

Reform UK has faced intense scrutiny regarding its financial ties to the cryptocurrency sector and allegations of circumventing foreign donation laws. Analysis of Electoral Commission data shows that approximately £20 million has been donated to the party by individuals linked to digital currencies since the recent general election, accounting for roughly 60 percent of its funding since early 2024.

A significant portion of these funds includes £15 million from crypto billionaire Christopher Harborne, which includes a £5 million donation to Nigel Farage that is currently under a parliamentary probe. While Farage has described the payment as a “personal gift,” the party has historically advocated for policies such as tax reductions and a strategic Bitcoin reserve.

British cryptocurrency billionaire Ben Delo has become the party’s second-largest donor, contributing £8 million in total, including £4 million via two cash payments made in April 2026. These contributions accounted for approximately 75 percent of the party’s second-quarter funding. Delo was previously convicted in the US for anti-money laundering failures before receiving a pardon from Donald Trump.

Following an undercover investigation by Channel 4 and Verbatim, the party faces allegations of attempting to bypass UK laws regarding foreign political donations. Footage reportedly showed senior officials Dan Jukes and James Orr discussing methods to channel funds from an American financier through a UK-based relative or having a foreign company pay for political polling. In response, the party has suspended Jukes and Orr and launched an internal probe. Nigel Farage has dismissed the reporting as a “hoax” and “loose pub talk,” maintaining that the party has not broken any laws. The Metropolitan Police are currently assessing evidence following reports that the party may have breached electoral regulations.
