Reggio Calabria Councilor Launches Gender Equality Initiative with Chamber of Commerce

On Thursday, Simona Caracciolo, the Councilor for Equality of the Metropolitan City of Reggio Calabria, met with Antonino Tramontana, President of the Reggio Calabria Chamber of Commerce. The two officials agreed to cooperate on promoting gender parity and supporting female‑owned businesses in the region.

Key actions include promoting certification of gender equality for local firms, implementing pay‑transparency regulations, and monitoring the application of equal‑opportunity laws. They also plan to create a joint coordination table that will involve additional local stakeholders. The Chamber supplied data showing that 12,785 enterprises – 24.1% of all registered firms in the metropolitan area – are owned by women, underscoring the sector’s significance.

The partnership aims to translate these policy goals into concrete initiatives that benefit the regional business community and improve workplace equality.
