Reggio Calabria metropolitan council holds first provincial session in Molochio
The newly elected metropolitan council of Reggio Calabria was inaugurated and held its first session outside the city hall, convening in the town of Molochio. Mayor Francesco Cannizzaro announced that future meetings will be itinerant, aiming to bring the council closer to the province’s municipalities and citizens. He said, “It is important that the council leaves the palace and goes to the territories to discuss and imagine open metropolitan councils.”
During the inaugural meeting, councilors were formally validated and a series of administrative and financial measures were approved, including adjustments to the 2026‑2028 budget plan, the allocation of funds for the Universal Civil Service, and the adoption of a safeguard maneuver for fiscal balance. The session marked the start of a new approach to regional governance, with plans to hold further meetings in other towns and to involve local officials, associations, and residents directly in decision‑making.
