Reggio Emilia completes construction of PNrr‑funded childcare centre

In Reggio Emilia, Italy, the new childcare centre at Parco Nilde Iotti is nearing completion. Built with funds from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) and part of a 30‑million‑euro investment in school infrastructure, the works are set to finish by the 31 August deadline, including final flooring, systems, painting and external landscaping.

The centre will host 96 children across three nursery sections and two kindergarten sections. From September it will accommodate 52 children aged 3‑5 from the Iqbal Masih preschool, while the first nursery section is scheduled to open in January 2027, reaching a total of 59 children once all sections are operational. The facility will offer extended‑hours care and a summer programme, aiming to reduce waiting lists for municipal nurseries and kindergartens. Mayor Marco Massari said, “Arriva a conclusione uno dei più importanti progetti realizzati con fondi Pnrr sul nostro territorio,” highlighting its significance as the city’s first directly managed early‑education pole.
