Reggio Emilia Diocese sells land for residential and commercial development

The Diocese of Reggio Emilia and Guastalla has sold 49,400 square meters of land in via Francia to Ccfs Immobiliare for 1,053,000 euros. The site is located opposite the ‘Le Querce’ shopping center.

The development plan includes the construction of five residential buildings containing 20 apartments, commercial spaces, offices, and 250 parking spaces. A broader urban project for the area, which includes land from other owners, aims to provide a total of 87 apartments and various retail facilities, including a new discount store.

The sale has sparked controversy among local political groups and environmentalists. Members of Coalizione Civica have criticized the move, noting that while former Bishop Massimo Camisasca previously stated there was no intention to build on the site, the Diocese did not formally renounce its building rights. Construction is expected to begin within the next 18 months, pending final permits.
