Reggio Emilia starts construction of green Rambla corridors in Santa Croce
Works have begun on two green corridors, Rambla sud and Rambla nord, within the Parco Innovazione area of Reggio Emilia. The project is part of the urban regeneration programme for the former Reggiane mechanical factories and aims to turn the specialised research park into an inclusive urban hub.
The linear park will cover more than three hectares, featuring diverse tree species, shrubbery, stable lawns, rain‑water recovery systems and infrastructure for sport, culture and leisure. It will also provide new bike and pedestrian routes linking the industrial pole with the city centre and the Santa Croce neighbourhood. "Le due Rambla creeranno un collegamento fisico tra il polo industriale e il quartiere," said Carlo Pasini, assessor for Urban Regeneration and Sustainable Development.
Two buildings in the area will be demolished to make space for the green space. The total investment is €6 million, with €4 million funded by the Emilia‑Romagna region from EU resources and €2 million co‑financed by the municipality (€1 million per Rambla). Completion is scheduled for the end of 2027.
