Regional authorities address beach safety and regulatory violations

In Montenegro, intensified inspections of coastal areas during the tourist season have revealed significant regulatory violations. Minister Milutin Butorović reported that 49 beach locations failed to comply with the requirement to keep at least 50 percent of their surface free from beach furniture. This resulted in 69 misdemeanor warrants totaling 36,400 euros. Additionally, inspections identified 108 instances of businesses operating without proper permits, leading to 40 bans on activities and four orders to seal facilities, with fines totaling 93,400 euros.

In Serbia, authorities in Užice have begun removing a partially sunken raft from the Đetinja river. The presence of the structure had necessitated a red flag warning at the city beach due to safety risks. Local officials stated that the removal process, which required documentation from the Port Captaincy in Sremska Mitrovica, is necessary to ensure safety for the public and to determine if traditional diving events can proceed as scheduled.
