Regional awards presented to writer Ivan Nešić and activist Teja Gorjanc Prelević
Several literary and human rights awards were recently presented in the Balkan region. In Serbia, writer Ivan Nešić has been awarded the Stanislav Lem Prize by IKC Solaris. The jury recognized Nešić for his significant contributions to genre fiction, including horror and dark fantasy, as well as mainstream literary fantasy, noting his ability to explore themes of the supernatural and the fragility of civilization.
In Montenegro, human rights activist and Executive Director of the NGO Human Rights Action (HRA), Teja Gorjanc Prelević, received the Milovan Đilas Award. The award, presented during the opening of the Bookiranje contemporary literature festival in Podgorica, honors her commitment to free thought, rule of law, and the protection of freedom of expression. The jury highlighted her work regarding judicial reform, war crimes, and her public criticism of discrimination and historical revisionism.
