In the first quarter of 2026, sharia banks in West Sumatra reported total assets of Rp14.84 trillion, a 13.30% increase year‑on‑year, with third‑party funds reaching Rp11.27 trillion (up 3.04%) and financing disbursed of Rp12.71 trillion (up 14.68%). The non‑performing financing ratio stood at 1.75%, and the OJK regional head Roni Nazra linked the strong performance to robust regional economic growth of 5.02%.

Meanwhile, conventional banks in South Sulawesi posted assets of Rp213.44 trillion, a 4.12% rise YoY, and third‑party funds of Rp147.41 trillion (up 7.33%). Credit volumes grew to Rp174.39 trillion, a 5.19% increase, with productive credit accounting for 52.69% of total and consumptive credit rising 8%. The sector's non‑performing loan ratio was 3.73% and the loan‑to‑deposit ratio 118.30%. OJK officials said the banking sector’s stability continues to underpin the region’s 6.88% economic expansion.
