Regional Coalition launched to improve women's electoral financing

The Regional Coalition to Promote Women's Access to Electoral Financing has been launched in the Dominican Republic. The initiative aims to unite electoral institutions, political actors, and civil society organizations across the Americas to address economic inequalities that hinder women from competing for elective offices.

Launched during the closing of the Political Parity Impulse Week in Santo Domingo, the coalition is driven by the Inter-American Commission of Women (CIM) of the Organization of American States (OAS), with support from the Government of France. Gloria Roely Reyes Gómez, the Dominican Republic's Minister of Women, will assume the regional coordination of the process.

Alejandra Mora Mora, Executive Secretary of the CIM, stated that unequal access to resources is a structural barrier to gender-parity democracy rather than an individual problem. The coalition seeks to transform the rules and mechanisms governing the distribution and oversight of electoral resources.
