Regional culinary festivals celebrate traditional desserts in Croatia and Bosnia

Regional culinary traditions were celebrated through two distinct gastronomic festivals in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In Vižinada, Croatia, the 28th edition of the ‘Slatka Istra’ event showcased traditional Istrian desserts. The exhibition featured 215 samples of heritage recipes, including kroštule, povetica, and fritule, prepared by 127 participants. A professional jury selected winners across nine categories to honor recipes passed down through generations.

In Gradačac, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the ‘Plum Fair’ hosted a gastro-festival focused on plum-based sweets. Approximately 40 exhibits were presented by local associations and rural households, featuring various preparations of fresh and dried plums. The ‘Grad-Art’ association from Gradačac secured first place in the competition.
