Vietnam accelerates digital transformation and labor market shifts
Vietnam is undergoing significant structural shifts across its economy, driven by digital transformation and evolving labor demands. In the technology sector, Ho Chi Minh City is targeting the commercialization of 60% of AI research results by 2030, aiming to popularize AI among 2 million citizens. Similarly, Tay Ninh province plans to equip 100% of its civil servants with AI skills to enhance administrative efficiency.
The labor market is seeing a transition from low-productivity agriculture to higher-value industrial and service sectors. Recent data shows the service sector now employs approximately 21.6 million people, accounting for 41% of the workforce. In provinces like Ha Tinh, recruitment efforts are expanding, including 2,000 positions for the VinFast electric vehicle plant and various opportunities in the banking and manufacturing sectors.
Digitalization is also reshaping public services and commerce. The tax sector is implementing the eTax Mobile app to streamline payments, while various provinces are promoting cashless hospital fee payments. In the agricultural sector, Gia Lai is expanding high-tech farming through VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards, and Bac Ninh is leveraging the OCOP program to boost rural economic growth.
