Balkans commemorations honor war victims and missing persons
Various commemorations are being held across the region to honor victims and defenders of the Homeland War. In Oriovac, ceremonies marked the 34th anniversary of the deaths or disappearance of 25 Croatian defenders from the Oriovac, Brodski Stupnik, and Sibinj municipalities.
In Gornji Viduševci, the 35th anniversary of the expulsion of the Croatian population from the Glina area was observed. Officials noted that 396 Croatian defenders and civilians died in the Glina area, and emphasized that searches for 58 missing persons continue, alongside the ongoing task of locating remains in mass graves.
In Brčko, a roundtable discussion focused on the issue of missing persons. Isidora Graorac, president of the Republic organization of families of prisoners, fallen fighters, and missing civilians, emphasized that regional cooperation is essential because the search for the missing must not be limited by state borders. The meeting included representatives from families in the Republic of Srpska, Serbia, Kosovo and Metohija, and Croatia, as well as the International Commission on Missing Persons.
