Regional elderly care and dependency services face administrative challenges in Spain

In Castilla-La Mancha, the Regional Council for the Elderly is evaluating a proposal to allow senior centers to issue membership cards directly. This initiative aims to reduce waiting times and administrative hurdles for seniors. The council also reviewed recent changes to the management of the 'Tarjeta Dorada' transport card, which is now handled by provincial delegations to improve proximity and reduce complaints.

Meanwhile, in Andalusia, the Federation of Andalusian Organizations for the Elderly (FOAM) has reported significant delays in dependency care services. According to data from IMSERSO, 98.49% of the 27,110 people on the waiting list in Andalusia have been waiting for more than six months for assessment or aid. This figure represents the highest rate of non-compliance with processing deadlines in Spain, significantly exceeding the national average of 63.22%.
