Regional employment initiatives launched in Argentina and Peru
In Las Lomitas, Argentina, the Formosa Undersecretariat of Employment conducted an intensive training course on the safe operation and preventive maintenance of chainsaws. The program focuses on the sustainable harvesting of vinal, a fast-growing plant species. This initiative aims to provide skilled labor to supply raw materials for a future biosiderurgical plant in the capital, which requires a constant year-round supply of vinal firewood for its furnaces.
In Lima, Peru, the Ministry of Labor and Employment Promotion (MTPE) organized a job fair to promote employment for people with disabilities. The event featured over 30 companies and provided direct interviews and career guidance. According to the MTPE, the Lima Metropolitan Employment Center facilitated access to formal jobs for 17,244 people between January and October. Projections suggest the creation of over 12,000 new jobs for people with disabilities nationwide during 2026.
