Regional labor inclusion and education initiatives
Overview
Regional initiatives in Latin America and Spain continue to expand their focus on employability, entrepreneurship, and social inclusion. In Spain, the Universidad Pública de Navarra (UPNA) hosted its 19th Employment and Entrepreneurship Meeting, connecting 1,500 participants with 105 organizations.
In Mexico, the Universidad Politécnica de San Luis Potosí held its second Poli-Feria del Empleo 2026, linking students with more than 40 companies, while Hermosillo launched the 11th MaxiApoyo to provide training and interest-free credits for family economies. Honduras also introduced a free job fair in Catacamas via Infop to connect employers with local seekers.
In Chile, programs such as ‘Aprendo con Energía’ are teaching renewable energy to students, and SernamEG continues to fund women-led collective entrepreneurship in Tarapacá. Argentina’s efforts remain diverse, including the Unión Industrial de Córdoba’s 18th Industrial Colloquium, SME expos in Tolhuin, and vocational orientation in Tigre and Rivadavia. The Red de Escuelas Técnicas que Transforman is also strengthening ties between technical schools and companies in Entre Ríos. In Las Lomitas, the Formosa Undersecretariat of Employment is conducting chainsaw operation and maintenance training for the sustainable harvesting of vinal to support a future biosiderurgical plant.
In Peru, the Ministry of Labor and Employment Promotion (MTPE) organized a job fair in Lima specifically for people with disabilities, featuring over 30 companies. The MTPE reported that the Lima Metropolitan Employment Center facilitated formal job access for 17,244 people between January and October, with projections suggesting the creation of over 12,000 new jobs for people with disabilities nationwide during 2026.
