Regional folklore festivals announced in Guatemala and Spain

Various regional cultural celebrations are being organized to honor folklore and seasonal traditions. In Guatemala, the Instituto Guatemalteco de Turismo has announced the ‘Senderos de Leyendas 2026’ event at Pacaya Volcano National Park and Calderas Lagoon. Scheduled for October 24 and 25, the activity features actors portraying traditional figures such as La Llorona, El Sombreron, La Siguanaba, and El Cadejo during hikes through the park.

In the Vigo area of Spain, Soutomaior is hosting a three-day Samaín celebration from October 30 to November 1. The festivities include family-oriented escape rooms, amulet workshops, and pumpkin carving. The event also features the ‘Luminarias de Ánimas’ and a parade involving the ‘Santa Compaña’ to maintain local traditions related to winter rituals and ancestral memory.
