Guatemalan folklore event at Pacaya Volcano

Overview

The Guatemalan Institute of Tourism (Inguat) and the Municipality of San Vicente Pacaya have announced ‘Senderos de Leyendas 2026’. This themed event is scheduled for October 24 and 25, 2026, within the Pacaya Volcano National Park and Calderas Lagoon.

During hikes along main trails, visitors will encounter actors portraying traditional Guatemalan folklore characters, including La Llorona, El Sombrerón, and La Siguanaba. The initiative aims to provide a family-oriented experience by combining local legends with natural landscapes.

Participation does not require an additional fee beyond standard park entry rates. These rates are set at Q30 for national tourists, Q100 for foreign tourists, and Q10 for national students.
