Regional food festivals in Croatia and Bosnia showcase local culinary traditions
The Gulašfest 2026 will take place on 22 August in the town of Pretetince, Croatia. Organized in front of the community centre, the event will feature the cooking of traditional goulash beginning at 13:00, with the soup made available to visitors from 13:30 onward, alongside live music and family‑friendly entertainment.
From 14 to 15 August 2026, Gradačac in Bosnia and Herzegovina will host the 53rd Plum Fair, which includes a new two‑day Gastro Fest dedicated to plum‑based dishes. At least 20 participants will present pastries, desserts and innovative sweets that incorporate fresh or processed plums, such as plum‑filled strudel, plum‑pita, plum‑baklava and plum‑cheesecake. A jury will evaluate the creations and award prizes to the best offerings, while visitors can sample the treats.
Both festivals aim to promote regional food heritage, support small producers and encourage tourism by highlighting traditional recipes alongside modern culinary twists.
